Mitigate the emission of greenhouse gases
Every journey to change must begin with understanding the path and the challenges that lay ahead. In the case of greenhouse gas emissions, quantifying them is a vital first step. To minimise the effects of global warming, it is imperative to mitigate the emission of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere through consistent and pragmatic governance, leading the way to emissions reductions internally, as well as creating a sphere of influence through your supply chain.
In order to do this, we have been calculating and reporting on our emissions with Planet Mark, a certification scheme that certifies businesses on their continuous effort to measure and reduce emissions year-on-year. Using data from our office in Farnworth, Greater Manchester, we have measured our head office operations emissions to be 23.2 tCO2e in YE2022.
We are making an active effort to update our utilities procurement policy to enforce the shift towards less impactful suppliers. We have recently been reviewing our waste disposal in the office to ensure any office waste we have is dealt with in the most effective, least impactful way. We are also spending a great deal of time and effort to educate people around the office about sustainable office practices. As a result of that, our most recent carbon footprint report has shown a reduction of 9% in utility emissions.

Our areas of focus

Commuting
To reduce the impacts of commuting and fleet travel, we have introduced a bike-to-work scheme. We are also exploring group deals to support the electrification of our depot's fleets and are soon moving to a more environmentally friendly office space

New Box Design
Our new box designs are made from undyed cardboard and printed in a single colour. The print on these boxes is designed to encourage companies to reuse them whenever possible and recycle them when they are no longer useful

JanGROW
Encouraging depots to give back: Jangrow; a tree planting program that allows our depots to engage their customers with the planting of trees that will capture and lock away CO2, encouraging positive impact and leaving a permanent carbon sink legacy

Silver Birch - Betula pendula
We're so pleased to launch a brand new initiative which provides us with the opportunity to literally give something back to the environment and create something beautiful. Jangrow is a new, exciting, and innovative tree planting scheme. The aim is to gift an infant cell tree to our customers, who can then plant them in their own grounds. It's a great way to incorporate our clients and customers into our sustainable plans for this year.

The more trees, the better the environment! Trees help to absorb carbon from the atmosphere, provide homes for a range of species and help to regenerate degraded areas.
